The property is ideally suited for many types of Equine activity. At present it is being used in a sport horse breeding operation but could also be an excellent site for thoroughbred breeding or as a site for the spelling and early season training of thoroughbreds or many other equine uses.

The property is 42.3 hectares (104 acres) approx. and is rolling country, ideal for raising strong, healthy young horse stock on the gently sloping countryside. There are plenty of flat paddocks and we cut hay from up to 18 hectares each year. There are several streams through the property that provide for a gravity fed tank and electric pump that provides for the extensive trough system.  There is 3 phase power at the old milking shed where the pump and tank are situated.

There are two houses on the property at present tastefully furnished and are being rented out short-term as holiday batches having privacy, great views and easy access to Raglan. One is two bedroom and is the original farm-house that was completely refurbished about 10 years ago and has great views across the farm and country to the east.  The other is a single bedroom house built about 12 years ago with privacy and magnificent views up Raglan harbour, over the foaling paddocks and across the farmland to the hills.

There is an all weather fenced arena approx. 20 by 60m with split level retaining wall and banking around two sides making excellent viewing for crowds  at open days, auctions etc. There is a raised covered judge’s stand and a movable auctioneer platform and a lockable tack shed. Beside the tack shed are two concrete post and rail yards and three grass post and rail yards. Nearby is a lockable garage with power (available for arena functions) and a separate single loose box and lockable equipment shed (refurbished old tractor shed).

Further down the farm road are the stables built to stand the test of time with poll construction, concrete floor, and three horse boxes with sliding doors and constructed by Magnum Industries.  A forth box is an indoor yard.  There is a large central work area including a crush and there is a lockable secure equipment room.  Nearby is an all-weather fenced round yard (approx.20m).  Also near is the old milking shed with 3 phase power, the water tank and pump and the electric fence main control.

There are conveniently placed foaling paddocks with post and rail fencing, various sized horse paddocks mostly with Equifencing and larger paddocks some with wire fencing with electric outriggers. A farm road runs to the back of the farm and can take heavy vehicles and all paddocks can be accessed from the road or from good side races.

10hectares of the more sloping areas have recently had mature pine trees milled and approx. 10 hectares have been replanted in exotic pines.  There is also an area of native trees alongside the Raglan harbour at the back of the farm which is picturesque and is a suitable area for hacking out horses.

View from Puriri House

The property has an approx. 800m frontage on the Raglan harbour tidal estuary (flounder and rock oysters) at the back and an approx. 700m road frontage which presents a massive potential public exposure if this is required.  There are two separate driveways and a further farm-gate access to the property. It is 2 minutes from the thriving town of Raglan where most facilities are available including a Veterinary Clinic where there are at present at least two excellent equine veterinarians working.  Raglan ocean beach is 10 minutes away where horses can be taken for salt water beach training.

The property is protected from the prevailing westerly’s by two ranges of hills, the property facing the east and to the north and Raglan harbour.  There are magnificent breathtaking, views from various parts of the property across farm land to hills to the east and to the north up Raglan harbour.

If you purchase as a going concern you receive Farm equipment and horse gear.  Also the certified thoroughbred mares, Carpe Diem and the young stock (2 year olds and under – See other pages on this web site) that are unsold at the time of purchase.  Also available are the furnishings of the two houses at present set up for short term (holiday) rentals furnished. Clare may also be available (by negotiation) as manager in the short term.
